Danish press manufacturer Nilpeter will show up at Labelexpo Europe in Brussels this year with a technology that departs from the company’s customary line-up of products: a process color inkjet printer. The device, named Caslon (after British typeface designer William Caslon, 1692-1766), the module uses Xaar’s latest drop-on-demand print heads with UV-curable inks.

The Caslon unit can operate as a rollfed stand-alone unit, or run inline with Nilpeter’s FA-Line UV-flexo series or the MO-series of offset-based platform presses. The electronic systems controller allows Caslon modules to print variable data printing on the fly, or print single copies of full-color labels on practically any material. Depending on choice of grayscale levels, the Caslon prints from 25 to 50 meters per minute.
